KUCHING, April 30: Popular Indonesian band Wali is set to bring excitement and star power to Miri’s Mayfest 2025 with their live concert on May 24, adding to the festive atmosphere of the month-long celebration marking Miri City’s 20th anniversary.
The ‘Front Row Live in Miri – Wali in Concert’ is part of the ‘Front Row Live Series 2025’ organised by Front Row Entertainment Sdn Bhd, and is expected to significantly boost Miri’s appeal as a tourism destination.
Front Row executive director and ‘Front Row Live Series 2025’ organising chairman Zaid Zaini stated, “Wali has a large following that transcends international borders, with many loyal fans in Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam.
“The concert which will take place at Eastwood Valley Golf & Country Club in Miri has attracted a lot on interest from Bruneians who have bought about 65 per cent of tickets sold to date.
“The venue is known to have hosted successful events in the past, most notably Borneo Jazz Festival 2024 featuring headliner Sheila Majid, and another popular Indonesian band, Nidji, last year just to name a few.”
He added, “The Wali concert is included in the official calendar of events for Mayfest 2025 which celebrates the 20th anniversary of Miri City this year.
“This live concert will further complement the various activities planned as part of the month-long Mayfest 2025 programme which provides more events, attractions and added incentive for visitors to flock to Miri.”
With Miri being in close proximity to Brunei and Kalimantan, the legendary Wali band has been selected to kick off the inaugural Live in Miri series due to keen interest from numerous fans in this region.
“We have collaborated with several travel agents in Brunei and Kalimantan to provide a bundled packages with includes transportation, accommodation and tickets to the concert. These all-in-one packages will enable a more streamlined and convenient arrangement to provide a better tourism experience for those crossing the border to catch Wali in concert.
“We are working closely with these travel agencies and other organisations to make this concert a resounding success and an unforgettable experience, most notably the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak to whom we are especially grateful for the tremendous support given to us,” Zaid said.
In conjunction with Labour Day and as an appreciation to all hardworking music lovers out there, Front Row has extended the Early Bird period by another two days to 11.59pm, Friday, May 2, 2025.
