Voting in Baram on hold until further notice due to bad weather, floods

KUCHING, Nov 19: Eleven polling stations in P220 Baram have been put on hold until further notice due to bad weather and flooding in several areas.

Election Commission (EC) chairman Tan Sri Abdul Ghani Salleh said the new date of voting would be announced in a later time when the situation allows for safer voting.

“The decision to suspend voting at 11 polling centres in the Baram parliamentary constituency division P220 is due to bad weather conditions, causing officers to be unable to reach their stations by air, land or water.


“The new date of voting will be announced later when it is safe for staff and voters to reach the polling centre to votes,” he said in a statement today.

The affected polling centres are SK Long Naah (Station 1 and 2), SK Long Luteng (Station 2), Rh Tk Matthew Belulok Lalo Kpg Lepo Gah (Station 1 and 2), SK Long Sait (Station 2), SK Long Tungan (Station 1 and 2), SK Long Moh (Station 1 and 2), SK Long Mekabar (Station 1), SK Long Jekitan (Station 1 and 2), SK Long Lamei (Station 2), SK Lio Mato (Station 1 and 2), SK Long Banga (Station 1 and 2). — DayakDaily
