KUCHING, Oct 22: “Vision without action is noise. Action without vision is aimless,” declared Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, as he reaffirmed Sarawak’s resolve to building a future that is both innovative and inclusive through its ongoing digital and green transformation agenda.
Speaking at the International Digital Economy Conference Sarawak (IDECS) 2025 at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) today, Abang Johari said Sarawak’s development path under the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 is guided by a commitment to blend technological advancement with environmental responsibility and social inclusivity.
He said that this year’s IDECS theme, “AI and Green Evolution: Growth, Challenges, and Community Resilience”, perfectly captures the essence of Sarawak’s transformation journey and its ambition to lead the region towards sustainable and resilient progress.
“IDECS is more than just a conference; it is a declaration that Sarawak will continue to be at the forefront of the region’s digital and green transformation.
“The champions of this decade will be those who can grow without burning, innovate without depleting, and lead without leaving anyone behind,” he said.
Abang Johari further emphasised that Sarawak stands ready to prove that it is possible to be digital and green, advanced yet inclusive, demonstrating that progress need not come at the expense of either the environment or the people.
Now in its eighth year, IDECS has evolved from a State-drive initiative into a regional platform for collaboration, innovation, and impact, bringing together leaders, entrepreneurs, researchers, and thinkers to exchange ideas and drive meaningful action for the future.
Abang Johari stressed that Sarawak’s success in achieving digital and green transformation hinges on cooperation across governments, industries, and communities, powered by a shared vision and collective will.
IDECS 2025 continues to reaffirm Sarawak’s leadership in driving innovation with integrity, further cementing the state’s position as a regional model for sustainable and inclusive growth.
