KUCHING, April 11: Police are calling on those involved in a recent road accident along Jalan Satok to come forward and assist with investigations, following the circulation of a viral video on social media.
In a statement today, Kuching District Police Chief Supt Merbin Lisa said the incident, which occurred on April 10 at around 5.25pm, involved a collision between a motorcycle and a pedestrian.
Initial investigations revealed that the accident took place when a local man riding a motorcycle from the traffic lights at Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg towards Jalan Tun Datuk Patinggi Haji Abdul Rahman Yakub struck a pedestrian who was crossing the road towards Wisma Satok.
The impact caused the motorcyclist to fall and slide underneath the rear of a vehicle in the right lane.
Both the motorcyclist and the pedestrian sustained minor injuries and were brought to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for treatment in the Yellow Zone. They were discharged on the same day.
“As of now, neither party has come forward to lodge a police report,” said Merbin.
He urged both individuals to present themselves at the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division of Kuching District Police Headquarters to assist with the ongoing probe.
The police also advised the public not to speculate or spread misleading information that could cause unnecessary concern or confusion. — DayakDaily
