BINTULU, Feb 3: A video allegedly showing a gang member using scissors to harm another person has earned the wrath of Bintulu MP Dato Sri Tiong King Sing, prompting him to call for action against gang-related crimes in his constituency.

In a Facebook post today, Tiong, who is also the assemblyman for Dudong, said the video had sparked public fear, with many wondering if gangs control Bintulu.

“I have been informed that the suspect has surrendered to the police. I urge Bintulu district police chief, Supt Nixon( Joshua Ali), and his team to take firm action according to the law.

“There must be no leniency in such serious crimes—we must crack down on gang violence! This incident is too severe to be ignored. I have also received the video from concerned citizens who worry that Bintulu is no longer a safe place,” he said.

In what he described as his ‘final warning’, the Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture said he does not want to see such violent acts happening again and told those involved in gang-related activities to ‘leave before it is too late’.

“The actions of these gangs in Bintulu have become too extreme. If we do not take firm action now, they may feel that they can control the law and threaten public safety,” he said.

At the same time, Tiong also dismissed implications against him in the past that he has connections with gangsters.

“I fully support the law and will never tolerate violence or crime. I will not protect lawbreakers. No matter who I meet, my advice is always the same— follow the law and choose the right path.

“Conflicts should be resolved legally, not through violence. My biggest hope is for the people of Bintulu to live in peace and safety. I fully support those who work hard to earn an honest living.

“But for those who think they can use gang influence to create fear and disturb society, I will stand firmly with the police to ensure strict enforcement of the law—without exception!” — DayakDaily
