KUCHING, June 1: The body of a 17-year-old girl who was feared to have drowned near Mujong Bridge in Kapit after a boat she was on capsized on May 30 was found today after a two-day search and rescue (SAR) operation.

According to a report from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak operation centre today, the deceased was found by villagers, and the victim’s family contacted the rescue team to inform and confirm that they found the deceased’s body at 10am, 2km from the incident location.

The deceased’s body was recovered by a five-member rescue team led by PBK II Abu Osman and later handed over to the police for further action, with the operation ending at 11.17am. — DayakDaily
