KUCHING, Oct 12: K-pop’s first-generation idol Rain proves that he’s still making waves as he delivered an electrifying performance on the first night of Borneo Sonic Music Festival (BSMF) 2024.
After the success of its first edition last year, this year’s Borneo Sonic returns with the South Korean singer-songwriter and dancer as the headliner, performing seven of his hit singles, namely ‘Gang’, ‘Hip Song’, ‘I Do’, ’30 Sexy’, ‘It’s Raining’, ‘LA Song’, and ‘Rainism’.
Spending almost three decades in the music industry, Rain’s vocals still hit like thunder, and his dance moves cascaded like a torrential flood. On a night filled with nostalgic moments, Rain truly made it pour.
Apart from Rain, fellow South Korean soloists Youngjae, Yoon SeoBin, and JUNNY also brought their unique beats to the stage.
The lineup included Indonesian singer Bunga Citra Lestari, Thai idol group 4EVE, South Korean electric violinist and DJ UJoo, and other local artists, namely Priscilla Abby, Thomas Kok (member of Thomas & Jack), and Namewee.
But that’s not all! During the intermissions, festival-goers couldn’t resist exploring the Borneo Sonic Food Carnival running alongside the music festival. With 50 food vendors and 20 stalls offering local crafts, there was something to tantalize every palate.
For those looking to kick back, the festival also offered a unique glamping experience at the nearby Football Field D (Padang D). Just a short walk from the main event, it provided a cosy retreat for festival-goers wanting to soak in the atmosphere day and night.
Today promises another night of thrilling performances, with American rapper and singer based in South Korea, Jessi, headlining and ensuring that the Borneo Sonic Music Festival continues to create unforgettable memories for everyone involved.
Also performing tonight are Indonesian singer Judika, Dutch singer Natalie La Rose, Australian electronic music duo DJ Slumberjack, and Malaysian stars, namely YUNA, girl group DOLLA, Zed.X (Zheng Xue), Jess Lee, and DJ Blink.
