SPAOH, Dec 16: The reconstruction of eight shop lot units destroyed by fire on February 4 this year is expected to begin in early 2020.

Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas who met the owners yesterday told them the plan for reconstruction was ready and that it would be up them to find a contractor.

“I hope you all can agree on the appointment of the contractor soon. The construction can hopefully begin this January for the shop lots to be ready for business by December,” he said.

Uggah, who is also Bukit Saban state assemblyman, was accompanied by Betong MP Datuk Robert Lawson Chuat when they distributed public donations for the reconstruction to some of the victims.

A special fund set up for the victims collected about RM300,000 from members of the public, including a donation of RM40,000 from each of the two elected representatives.
