SIBU, July 15: A vaccination centre (PPV) at Xin Fu Yuan Methodist Church at Brooke Drive has been set up to speed up the vaccination process in Jalan Tiong Hua and Jalan Tong Sang, which are Covid-19 red zones.
Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Bukit Assek Youth chief Councillor Joseph Chieng told reporters that this PPV was set up to complement the mobile vaccination initiative.
“Mobile vaccination using a bus takes a long time to vaccinate 1,000 people in one week. So we are setting up a bigger PPV at Xin Fu Yuan Methodist Church.
“It will have more space and hopefully be more efficient in administering the vaccines,” he said.
They are expecting to vaccinate up to 3,000 people in the three-day vaccination programme from July 16 to 18, with 1,000 doses administered per day.
A 10-team of volunteers from NGOs and churches have been actively going around the two neighbourhoods to register residents for the vaccine, he added.
“We have also set up a special website where the public can choose the time for their vaccination appointment. There are 140 slots for each hour. With this website, the recipients need to come according to the time slot they have chosen as we will not inform them anymore,” he said.
The website, which consists of a registration form for the vaccination appointment, can be accessed at https://registration.projects.asia/.
The volunteers at the PPV will then key in the particulars of recipients onto the MySejahtera app once they arrive for their vaccination.
The first day of vaccination, he said, has been fully filled up while there were only a few slots left for the second day.
“Our priority is for residents in the two zones but we also allow people from other zones. They can either register with the 10 teams or through me,” he said. — DayakDaily
