KUCHING, Jan 28: Village Security and Development Committees (JKKKs) in areas under Kuching South City Council (MBKS) jurisdiction are urged to work with city councillors on issues and needs affecting their respective communities.

MBKS Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng emphasised that collaboration and cooperation with the council were most important to ensure the needs of residents in Kuching South are well taken care of especially during this Covid-19 pandemic.

“JKKK can liaise with our councillors for any help needed especially from the council,” he said in a media release today.

Today, Wee led a team of councillors and community leaders handed over a donation of essential goods from Everrise Supermarket to residents of Jalan Kampung Mendu, Jalan Foochow 1X (Jalan Kampung Dayak) and Jalan Selangan Batu (Jalan Peace Selatan).

Wee also reminded residents to stay vigilant and comply with the standard operating procedure (SOP) under Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) to ensure Sarawak wins the war against Covid-19.

“Stay safe, avoid gathering or crowded areas and always put on face masks whenever outside,” he advised.

With the fourth wave of Covid-19 affecting everyone everywhere, Wee thanked Everrise for the contributions as part of their efforts and initiatives to help the public.

“I believe every company has its own way of giving back to the community, more so during this pandemic. It can in some way lessen the burden of those really affected not only by Covid-19 but also the recent flooding.

“The flood victims will be relieved and happy to receive such donations. It will put a smile on their faces during these hard times,” he added. — DayakDaily
