Upriver town of Kapit records first suspected Covid-19 case

KUCHING, Feb 21: The upriver town of Kapit recorded its first suspected Covid-19 case as Sarawak registered five more suspected cases today (Feb 21).

The State Disaster Management Committee, in a statement today, informed that one patient under investigation (PUI) was recorded at Kapit Hospital. The 28-year-old man had just returned to Kapit from Singapore where he was working.

Meanwhile, there are three PUI cases at Bintulu Hospital and one at Sarawak General Hospital (SGH), bringing the cumulative PUI cases reported from Jan 10 to Feb 21 statewide to 107.

To date, 99 cases have tested negative while eight are still awaiting laboratory test results.

A Chinese national at Bintulu Hospital was among the eight waiting for lab results.

The Health Department had also screened a total of 11,534 arrivals at various airports, land and sea entry points as at 11am yesterday (Feb 20).

This bring to a total of 152,473 arrivals to the state screened since Feb 1 this year. —DayakDaily
