KUCHING, Sept 29: The Ministry of Finance (MoF) has urged Malaysians to ensure their MyKad and driving licence details are accurate and aligned to avoid issues in verifying eligibility for the targeted BUDI MADANI RON95 subsidy (BUDI95), which comes into full effect tomorrow (Sept 30).
According to MoF, checks conducted with the Ministry of Transport (MoT) found that some driving licences still carry outdated identification formats such as police numbers, army numbers or old IC numbers, which do not match the 12-digit MyKad format.
To ensure smooth transactions at petrol stations, eligible motorists are advised to verify the following details on their driving licences:
1. The correct 12-digit MyKad number is used,
2. The licence holder’s name is accurate, and
3. The correct class and type of vehicle are stated.
“This alignment is necessary as driving licence information will be cross-checked with MyKad data, which is read by payment terminals at petrol stations to confirm subsidy eligibility,” the ministry said in a statement today.
Any discrepancies should be updated at Road Transport Department (JPJ) counters. MoF and MoT will also expedite weekly data alignment to ensure Malaysians can continue to benefit from the subsidised fuel scheme.
On implementation, MoF said BUDI95 remained stable on its second day of operations yesterday (Sept 28), when it was opened to Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) recipients with valid driving licences.
Nearly 500,000 out of 6.1 million STR recipients, along with members of the Malaysian Armed Forces and Royal Malaysia Police, successfully carried out BUDI95 transactions nationwide.
Throughout Sept 28, a total of RM22.9 million in purchases was recorded for 11.5 million litres of RON95 petrol at the subsidised price of RM1.99 per litre, with MyKad verification at petrol stations operating smoothly.
The BUDI95 system will expand tomorrow to cover all 16 million Malaysians with valid MyKad and active driving licences.
Since the launch of the BUDI95 portal on Sept 25, some 8.6 million users have already checked their eligibility status.
The portal is also equipped with a new feature that allows users to review their BUDI95 transaction history, accessible through MyDigital ID login for added security.
