“Following last night’s incident, we are stepping up security measures around and within the Miri Indoor Stadium,” said Alexson when contacted this morning.

The incident occurred on Wednesday night during the quarter-final match between Sarawak’s Iman Syakila Mahdi and the Federal Territory’s Nurin Alyaa’ Damia in the 45kg women’s category.

The match was disrupted when spectators began throwing bottles, forcing the event to be temporarily halted.

In response, authorities have decided that all silat matches scheduled for Thursday, Aug 22, will proceed without audience participation.

Only individuals with official passes, such as volunteers, medical personnel, media, and security staff, will be permitted entry to the venue.

The police are taking these steps to prevent any further disruptions and ensure the safety of all participants and personnel involved in the event. — DayakDaily
