Unimas signs MoU with TNS to build new campus facilities

KUCHING, Oct 14: Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak (TNS) will be helping Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) to manage its Wakaf Fund for the building of three new facilities at the university.

The new facilities to be built at Unimas would be the new Examination Hall which is estimated to cost RM5 million, an Information Technology Development and Service Centre at RM12 million, and an East Campus Mosque at RM2 million.


“With an estimated total cost RM19 million to build the three facilities, so far about RM7 million have been raised for the project’s Wakaf Fund after it was initiated in January 2018,” Unimas deputy chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim Suaidi revealed before the signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with TBS this afternoon.

Signing on behalf of TBS, general manager Datu Abang Mohammad Shibli Abang Mohamad Nailie said the project would benefit both Muslim and non-Muslim students of the university.

The MoU signing was then witnessed by Majlis Islam Sarawak president Datu Misnu Taha and Baitulmal and Wakaf Board chairman Datu Putit Matzen.
