KUCHING, Aug 21: Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) announced that there is yet to be any decision on the postponement for the date of the admission of new students for Semester One for the 2020/2021 academic session which will start on October 5.
Following the announcement by Higher Education Minister Datuk Noraini Ahmad yesterday that the admission date for students from Kedah into institutions of higher learning in Sarawak has been postponed to a future date due to the Covid-19 situation there, Unimas has came out with a press statement to explain the matter.
Unimas in a press statement today said the admission for first year university students will proceed as scheduled from October 5 to 8.
The institution of higher learning said the entry of new pre-university students is on September 1 to 5.
It added for graduates who are doing course work, the dates for resuming studies are on October 7 to 9.
For current Unimas students, the institution of higher learning said lecture sessions will resume on October 12 using online learning.
Unimas said the university is concerned about the welfare of its students and will continue to monitor the latest Covid-19 situation in the country.
