Unifor releases RM3.189 mil to 14 non-Islamic religious organisations

KUCHING, Oct 8: Unit For Other Religions (Unifor) has presented financial assistance totalling RM3.189 million to 14 non-Islamic organisations today.

Minister-in-charge of Unifor Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas presented the cheques to the respective state assemblymen and their representatives at his office here.

Among them were Deputy State Legislative Assembly speaker Datuk Gerawat Gala as well as Assistant Ministers Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail (Agriculture), Datuk Rosey Yunus (Women, Family and Childhood Development), Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali (Law, State-Federal Relations and Project Monitoring) and Datu Dr Penguang Manggil (Local Government).


Others were assemblymen Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman (Tupong) and Lo Khere Chiang (Batu Kitang).

The State government has allocated a budget of RM50 million for Unifor this year.

The fund is for various non-Islamic religious bodies statewide to finance the construction of new churches, chapels and temples, as well as for renovations, upgrades and other infrastructure development purposes. — DayakDaily
