Unifor presents RM260k to two religious bodies in Miri

MIRI, Feb 7: The state’s Unit for Other Religions (Unifor) presented RM260,000 for the upgrading and repairing works of two houses of worship in Miri.

Tourism, Arts and Culture Assistant Minister Datuk Sebastian Ting presented RM200,000 to Gurdwara Sahib Miri and RM60,000 to Taoism Lian Hua San San Ching Miri.

“This is one of the state government’s effort to help non-Islamic religious bodies in Sarawak to ensure that their worship buildings or houses are being taken care of,” he said at the cheque presentation here today.

Unifor allocated RM30mil to provide monetary assistance to 202 religious bodies in 2019.

This year, the state government has allocated RM50 million for the fund. — DayakDaily
