KUCHING, Sept 13: The Unit for Other Religions (Unifor) has approved grants totalling RM2.4 million for non-Muslim religious bodies in the N12 Kota Sentosa constituency this year, which will be used to repair, renovate, and build houses of worship.
Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap, on behalf of Unifor, presented grants to eight non-Muslim religious bodies: Persatuan Penganut Kuil Fu De San Qing Gong, Pertubuhan Penyokong Sam San Kuet Bong Batu Tujuh, Sacred Heart Church Kota Sentosa, BEM Central Avenue Church, Persatuan Fatt Lung Tang Kuching, Chin Seng Methodist Church, Christ Baptist Church Kota Sentosa, and BEM Satria Jaya Church, according to a press release.
āDuring the simple handover ceremony for the Unifor grants, YB Wilfred Yap informed the various non-Muslim religious bodies that the Sarawak Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government under the leadership of Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg understands the importance of religious harmony and unity amongst the multi-religious and multi-racial composition of the people of Sarawak.

āYB Wilfred Yap will assist all non-Muslim religious bodies and mission schools in N12 Kota Sentosa to obtain funding from Unifor, that are in need of funds to repair, renovate, and build houses of worship subject to them fulfilling the requirements,ā the press release stated. ā DayakDaily
