UNIFOR grants RM1 million for St Ann Church expansion in Kota Padawan

KOTA PADAWAN, Oct 21: The Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR) has officially handed over a grant of RM1 million to St Ann Church for a major expansion project.

Batu Kitang assemblyman Dato Lo Khere Chiang, in a statement today, said the funding will support the construction of two separate 2-storey blocks: one for a modern St Ann Parish Office, covering 1,073 square meters and a second block of 15 classrooms for Sunday school and other church activities, spanning 2,388 square meters.

In total, the project will add 3,461 square meters of space, with a construction cost of RM6,698,976.

Meanwhile, St Ann Church building committee chairman Philip Gaweng said the additional features will include a cafeteria and function rooms for parishioners in the classroom block, while the Parish Office Block will house a 2-storey gift shop featuring a unique spiral staircase design.

The project is expected to be completed by October 23, 2024, assuming no further delays.

Once completed, St Ann Church will invest RM386,984 in furnishing and interior decoration.

These new facilities will serve over 20,000 parishioners from the Kota Padawan, Padawan, and Penrissen areas, providing modern amenities for the growing community. — DayakDaily
