The cheques were handed over during a presentation ceremony Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) Dudong Division chairman Councilor Datuk Teo Boon Siew, representing Dudong assemblyman Dato Sri Tiong King Sing.

Speaking at the ceremony, Teo reminded the recipients to use the allocation wisely and honestly, and urged them to not have the mentality that since the money comes from the government, they can use it as they like.

“Don’t have that kind of unhealthy mentality. Even if the money comes from the government, it should be fully used by all who deserve it,” he added.

Teo said Tiong had lobbied to get the money for the benefit of the people.

“Dato Sri Tiong cannot be with us today because he is busy accompanying Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang who is visiting Malaysia,” he explained.

Meanwhile, NAMIC Committee Chairman Edward Chendang expressed his appreciation to the government for the provision.

“We will use the allocation prudently to carry out the construction work of our new church,” he added.

Da Wang Sungai Menyan Believers Association committee chairman Kong Kim Hong also thanked the government for the timely allocation.

“We will use the money to maintain the temple and make sure it is in good condition,” he said.

Also present at the ceremony was PDP Dudong Division secretary Councilor Simon Wee. — DayakDaily
