KUCHING, Dec 12: A Unit for Other Religions (Unifor) cheque worth RM240,000 was presented to the Blessed Sacrament Church (BSC) in BDC here to carry out upgrading and enhancement works.
According to a press release, the cheque was handed over by Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap to representative Pauline Lim, witnessed by Father Leonard Yap, in a ceremony today.
The allocation will support the church’s ongoing efforts to improve its facilities and provide a safer, more conducive environment for worshippers.
Yap emphasised that Sarawak continues to stand out as a model of genuine social inclusivity, not merely in words but through real, tangible action.
“Sarawak continues to show the way. We are living proof through its actions, not slogans that social inclusivity is the foundation of unity, stability, and progress. Our government supports all faith communities because we believe that no one should ever be left behind,” he said.
He added that such commitment is made possible through the leadership of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, whose policies have strengthened religious harmony, community development, and equitable growth across the State.
“Under the Premier’s leadership, Sarawak has built a governance culture rooted in respect, fairness and inclusivity. This is why Sarawak remains peaceful and united while continuing to progress rapidly,” he said.
Yap stressed that unity remains essential as Sarawak moves forward under the Post-Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, which aims to elevate the State’s economy, improve infrastructure, and ensure shared prosperity for all Sarawakians.
Yap reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with community leaders, religious organisations, and local stakeholders to ensure that development assistance continues to reach all corners of Kota Sentosa and the wider Kuching community. — DayakDaily
