SIBU, Dec 3: The body of an unidentified man was found floating in Sungai Rasau off Batang Igan by local villagers this afternoon.
The Sarawak Fire and Rescue department (Bomba) operations centre in a statement disclosed that they received the emergency call at 12.41pm.
When firefighters from the Sungai Merah station arrived at the scene, they found the body of a fully clothed adult male secured to a branch along the river bank.
Villagers had secured the body to ensure that it would not be carried away by the river current while waiting for firefighters to arrive.
Police marine personnel also assisted in lifting the body out of the river.
Upon examination, the man’s right wrist was found to be broken. The body was later handed over to the police for further investigation. — DayakDaily
