BAU, Aug 2: A suspicious rusty object that looked like a hand grenade was found at the riverbank of Kampung Buso yesterday, triggering a short-lived panic among villagers nearby.
A villager Hazwan Afdal Abd Rahman reported that his nephew saw an item that looked like a bomb while he and his friends were swimming in the river at about 5.30pm.
The nephew even took the object back home before handing it over to Hazwan, who reported the matter to the police at 7.47am today.
A bomb squad from the State Police Headquarters (IPK) Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU) responded to the case, and later identified the object as an unexploded ordnance (UXO).
The BDU safely destroyed the bomb. No one was injured and no property was damaged during the process.— DayakDaily
