Unemployed man sentenced to 7 months’ jail for attempted robbery

KUCHING, Nov 28: An unemployed man was sentenced to seven months’ jail by the Magistrate’s Court for attempting to rob a pet store.

Muhammad Nur Faizie Osman, 23, from Kampung Semariang Batu, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Mohd Syukri Mokhtar here today.


He had attempted to rob some cash at the Animal Kingdom’s Shop at Jalan Sultan Tengah, at about 12.50pm on Nov 11, 2019.

He was found guilty under Section 393 of the Penal Code, which carries an imprisonment term which may extend to seven years and fine, if convicted.

According to the facts of the case, the accused pretended to buy a dog shampoo. When he was at the cashier, he told the cashier that he did not want to purchase anything but wanted the money in the drawer. The accused also threatened to hurt the cashier with a weapon in his bag if she refused to hand him the money.

The accused fled the scene with a motorcycle when a customer went into the shop.

Prosecuting Officer Nelson Ensit prosecuted while the accused is unrepresented. — DayakDaily
