Unemployed man nabbed for allegedly peddling cannabis

MIRI, March 21: A jobless man was detained by Miri Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) on Wednesday on suspicion of dealing drugs.

Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah said the police team conducted the raid following intelligence and surveillance works prior to the arrest.

The suspect, aged 20, was arrested by a roadside of Jalan Sim Ching Kay at 5.30pm. Cannabis worth RM750 was also seized.

“In the 5.30pm arrest, the man was stopped while walking along the road by the police and was found to possess a packet of ‘Thumb Ngan Yin’ roasted groundnut snack in one of his pockets,” said Lim.

“Police found five small packets inside the snack packet, believed to contain cannabis weighing 50.68g.”

The case is being investigated under Section 39A(2) and Section 15 (1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect has no previous record of drug related offences. — DayakDaily
