Unemployed man jailed 1 year for motorcycle theft, trespassing

KUCHING, Feb 15: A 23-year-old unemployed man has been sentenced to one year in prison and fined RM1,000 by the Magistrate’s Court here today for stealing a motorcycle and trespassing into a woman’s bedroom.

Muhammad Norhaizammer Mohammad pleaded guilty to two charges read before two separate magistrates.


On the first charge, he was accused of stealing a Yamaha motorcycle belonging to a 27-year-old man behind a 24-hour convenience store at Metrocity, Matang, around 2.10am on Feb 6.

He was charged under Section 379A of the Penal Code, which carries a punishment of imprisonment for not less than one year and not more than seven years, and may also be liable to a fine if found guilty.

Magistrate Syarifah Fatimah Azura Wan Ali imposed a one-year prison sentence on the accused.

Meanwhile, on the second charge, Muhammad Norhaizammer was charged under Section 448 of the Penal Code for trespassing into the bedroom of a 24-year-old woman.

He committed the offense at a house in Kampung Sungai Midin, Semariang Semerah Padi, around 3.15 pm on Feb 9.

Magistrate Zubaidah Sharkawi imposed a fine of RM1,000 or two months’ imprisonment on Norhaizammer.

The prosecution was conducted by two Deputy Public Prosecutors, Inspector Nur Shafiqa Nyaie Ilin and Inspector Ammarsoffi Yusoff, while the accused was not represented by a lawyer. — DayakDaily
