Unemployed Kuching man jailed, fined for injuring 7yo son in motorcycle dispute

KUCHING, Oct 20: An unemployed man was sentenced to six months in prison and fined RM1,000 by the Magistrate’s Court today for injuring his seven-year-old son due to a dispute over borrowing a motorcycle.

Magistrate Syarifah Fatimah Azura Wan Ali ordered the accused, Noor Nashrah Razemi, 30, to serve an additional one month in jail if he fails to pay the fine.


Noor Nashrah pleaded guilty after being charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum sentence of one year in prison, a fine of up to RM2,000, or both upon conviction.

The incident occurred around 3pm on October 13 at a residence in Taman Hillside Matang.

According to the case facts, the accused became enraged after the complainant, who was the accused’s mother, refused to let him borrow her motorcycle.

In a fit of anger, the accused proceeded to strike the victim (his son) on his head, face, and body using his hands, resulting in minor injuries to the child.

Subsequently, the complainant reported the incident to the police, and the defendant was arrested on October 15.

It is understood that the victim is the child of the accused and his girlfriend.

The prosecution was handled by Inspector Mohd Adzmei Ahmad, while the defendant was not represented by legal counsel. — DayakDaily
