“This is an area where the UK and Malaysia are aligned, as both countries recognise the importance of protecting the planet while driving the green economy and energy transition,” Sharma said during a press conference after the meeting at Satria Pertiwi Complex in Petra Jaya, on Wednesday (Sept 3).

He revealed that the visit centred on four main areas of cooperation, including manufacturing, education and human capital development, digitalisation and technology, and renewable energy.

Sharma added that the UK is committed to strengthening its already strong bilateral ties with Malaysia through closer collaboration with the Sarawak government. This includes partnerships in English language education, skills and vocational training, and higher education.

“We also discussed trade and investment opportunities, particularly in emerging fields such as life sciences, where there is significant potential for impactful and innovative collaboration,” he said.

Highlighting the long-standing historical relationship between the UK and Malaysia, Sharma emphasised that this shared foundation offers both sides a strong platform to deepen cooperation and move forward together. — DayakDaily
