KUCHING, Aug 16: Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas cautioned the people against being confused or instigated by political “langau” (common blue or green bottle fly) out to dwell on “pooh” (lies and slanders).
He said apart from criticising the area’s present leadership as being ineffective and only looking after the interests of their relatives, these “langau” would make them many promises.
“After the election, if they failed to win, they will just fly away,” said Uggah in his speech when officiating at the state Agriculture Department Community Extension Outreach Programme at Rh. Jambai Bunsu in Kerapa Spak, here today.
At the same time, former Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Alfred Jabu described Uggah as his worthy successor to the Betong leadership.
According to Jabu, the fact that he (Uggah) is now a deputy chief minister and handling one of the most important state portfolios, namely the Agriculture Modernisation, Native Land and Regional Development and also as Second Finance Minister speaks volumes of his credibility and leadership quality.
“He has done very well. The Betong Division is enjoying uninterrupted, very fast and inclusive pace of development now.
“I am very confident under the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) led state government, many more will be done here, in particular in developing its huge agriculture potentials,” he said.
Jabu also advised the people to give their fullest support to Uggah again in defending his Bukit Saban seat in the coming state election.
Also present were Layar state assemblyman Gerald Rentap Jabu, MANRED Permanent Secretary Edwin Abit, a political secretary to the Chief Minister Dr Richard Rapu and Betong Resident Friday Belik. –DayakDaily.
