SPAOH, Dec 5: Bukit Saban incumbent Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas is confident that voters in the constituency will support Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) in the 12th Sarawak Election.

Uggah who has been renominated to defend the seat for Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) said people in the constituency are hungry for more development even with many development projects currently being implemented.

“They are looking forward to plans and programmes to upgrade their socio-economic status.

“This is what I plan to do in the next five years to help them generate (more) income,” Uggah said at a gathering at his longhouse, Rh Menit Unsu, Penom, in Ulu Paku near here today.

Uggah, who is also the Deputy Chief Minister said he wants to continue what he has done and bring more development to the constituency.

As every vote counts, Uggah expressed his hope that the people will go all out to cast their votes on polling day which falls on Dec 18.

Uggah also said the 12th Sarawak election is held during an extremely difficult situation as the country is still grappling with the Covid-19 pandemic.

He thus reminded all to continue to strictly observe all standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the prevention of Covid-19.

He said this included physical distancing and wearing face masks.

“If there are those not bothered about these especially during the campaigning period, report them to the police. We are all responsible to safeguard each other health,” he added.

Betong Member of Parliament Datuk Robert Lawson Chuat, Uggah’s wife Dato Doreen Mayang, Temenggong Richard Mullok and a political secretary to the Chief Minister Dr Richard Rapu were among those present at the gathering. — DayakDaily
