BETONG, Aug 12: Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas warned voters here to beware the efforts by certain groups to spread negativity and lies about him and alleging lack of development in the Bukit Saban constituency.

The Bukit Saban assemblyman thus urged people in Betong to go around the constituency to check and see for themselves what the state government has done and delivered so far.

“Please if you must, go around the constituency in broad daylight so that you can see clearly what we have done.

“Do not go at night as you will not be able to see anything,” he said at a briefing on Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) implementation for 85 Village Development and Security Committees (JKKKs) for the Betong parliamentary constituency here today.

Uggah also pointed out that 99 per cent of Betong had been linked to the state grid while 85 per cent were now enjoying treated water.

“We are not resting on our laurels or are being complacent. We are in the process of doing even more and in particular for socio-economic development through modern agriculture,” he emphasised.

Earlier on arrival, Uggah who was accompanied by Layar assemblyman Gerald Rentap Jabu, political secretary to the Chief Minister Dr Richard Rapu and Betong Resident Friday Belik on a visit to the recently completed new Betong Jungle Produce Market costing RM5 million.

He spent about 30 minutes talking to the hawkers of various races operating at the market to check on their satisfaction and expectations over their new trading place. ā€” DayakDaily
