KUCHING, July 12: Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas has commended Datu Jack Aman Luat for his contributions as the director of the Unit For Other Religion (Unifor) during his two-year term since 2022.
Jack Aman has been particularly noted for overseeing the construction of the new Unifor complex, set to be occupied in September 2024.
Uggah also praised Jack Aman for implementing numerous programs that fostered harmony and unity among the various houses of worship in Sarawak.
“The establishment of Unifor in 2017 has positively impacted non-Muslim communities and other houses of worship in Sarawak, demonstrating how the Sarawak government continues to safeguard harmony in our multiracial society,” Uggah remarked at a ceremony last night, where Jack Aman officially handed over his duties to the new Unifor director, Datuk Georgina Apphia Ngau.
He expressed confidence that Georgina, with her extensive administrative experience, would continue Unifor’s work and ensure fair allocation of funds to all houses of worship.
He also encouraged the organisation of more welfare programmes by Unifor, stating, “The new director will now lead Unifor to provide higher service and further enhance religious harmony. We will give her all the support for her future endeavors.”
Georgina, who served as the Director of the Registrar of Societies (RoS) from 2016 until her appointment, takes over from Jack Aman, who will assume a new role as a member of the Public Service Commission.
The handover ceremony was also attended by Uggah’s wife, Datin Amar Doreen Mayang, and Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian. — DayakDaily
