Uggah: PBB strong like ‘tapang’ tree, ‘termites’ failed to destroy party

KUCHING, April 23: The ‘termites’ who tried to destroy Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) were unable to do so as the party is strong like the ‘tapang’ tree, said PBB deputy president Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.

Uggah, who is Deputy Premier of Sarawak, said that some people had been driven to obsession with using the internet to hit out at leaders, the government, and PBB itself.

However, Uggah said that since 1974, PBB has grown from strength to strength because of the unity and discipline among its members.

“PBB has been and is the backbone of the State government. We must preserve our unity for our government to remain strong,” he said when officiating at the branch’s triennial delegates meeting (TDM) in Bintulu today.

Meanwhile, Uggah also called for PBB Kakus branch members to help win back Selangau in the parliamentary election, which can be called at any time this year.

He also urged members from PBB and other component parties to give their full support to Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) in winning back the seat.

“Let us set aside any petty differences that we have. Let us be strongly united in this big mission of ours,” he said.

Uggah explained that the Selangau parliamentary seat, a rural Iban majority seat, was won by Baru Bian under the Pakatan Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) ticket before leaving the party to leave to join Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB), a local Opposition party.

According to him, the people of Selangau have been left in the lurch without any development and progress.

“Let us help Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) win back the seat to help them,” he said. — DayakDaily
