KUCHING, June 17: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) deputy president Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas wants members of Generation Z, colloquially known as zoomers, to join PBB.

He urged current PBB members to invite these young members to join the party so that they could also have a fair share of participation in the development of Sarawak.

“In PBB, make sure we invite them (Gen Z members) to join PBB. If they are non-bumiputera, they could maybe join SUPP (Sarawak United Peoples’ Party), PRS (Parti Rakyat Sarawak) or PDP (Progressive Democratic Party).

“If we don’t invite them, they will go to other parties. It will be very, very sad then. So, bring them to our programmes,” he said.

In terms of statistics, he said among the 675,077 new voters registered in Sarawak as of Dec 31, 2021, 66 per cent of them are between 18 to 29-years-old.

Meanwhile, Uggah urged PBB members, especially the Women and Youth wings, to adopt and master social media like the millennials today.

He said social media is one of the channels effective for good publicity, but at the same time, poses the risk of getting bad press.

“We have seen BN (Barisan Nasional) fall mainly because of social media. And we have noticed around the world, presidents win and lose because of social media.

“So, I hope PBB Women and Youth wings especially, please equip yourself with the latest technology. Use your knowledge in media to explain PBB policies.

“Show them what PBB has done, including SUPP, PRS and PDP, tell the people, our voters, what we have done,” he said when officiating the PBB Women and Youth wings general assembly at BCCK here today. — DayakDaily
