KUCHING, Aug 30: The Innovative and Creative Convention (ICC) conducted by ministry-level departments and agencies is an important and appropriate tool for service enhancement and delivery.
According to a statement, Deputy Premier of Sarawak Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said it would benefit the State’s economic development.
He stated this while officiating at the closing of a mini ICC under his Ministry of Infrastructure and Port Development (MIPD) here last night.
“This type of activity can generate new innovative and creative ideas from which the Ministry can benefit in a variety of ways.
“They include effective service delivery, meeting targets (KPI), resolving public complaints based on feedback, and having new innovations to replace conventional ways of doing things, which will save cost and time.
“We will be able to meet quality standards, which will boost our organisation’s image and increase our income,” Uggah noted.
Furthermore, he hoped for a platform where ministry employees could present innovative and creative initiatives to improve their workplace culture.
He said these were all the more important now that the State government has been implementing the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030).
“Let us all continue to work as a cohesive, forward-thinking, and determined team, ready to face any challenges that arise over the next eight years,” Uggah added.
There were a total of eight teams that took part in the event.
The Ta ‘Rom team from Limbang Division won, with the JKR Central Region Office coming in second and the Kuching Port Authority team coming in third.
Also present were MIPD deputy minister Datuk Majang Renggie, MIPD permanent secretary Chiew Chee Yaw, and Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR) director Richard Tajan. — DayakDaily
