KUCHING, Nov 4: The victory of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate Iskandar Turkee in the Jepak by-election reflects the people’s confidence in the coalition’s leadership under Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

According to Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) deputy president Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, constituents in Jepak know that only GPS can deliver.

ā€œToday is a very clear indication of the people’s confidence. I think that also shows the confidence of the people in his policies, the development programmes that have been implemented and the direction in which he is steering Sarawak towards, especially with the Post-Covid Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030,ā€ he told reporters when met at Borneo Convention Center Kuching here today.

He also thanked Jepak voters for their support, and assured that GPS will deliver on their promises.

ā€œI have full confidence in the new assemblyman. I have seen him going around and I am confident that he will meet the people’s expectations.

Iskandar successfully defended the Jepak seat for the ruling coalition in the by-election with a majority of 8,874 votes in a three-cornered fight. ā€” DayakDaily
