KUCHING, June 6: Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas will dig some fund out of his own personal pocket to extend the distribution of food kit to about 300 Bukit Saban families residing outside the area.

The recipients will receive the food kit starting next week which will be managed and distributed by the Bukit Saban Service Centre representing Uggah who is the Bukit Saban assemblyman.

This announcement was first made known to the public through the “Bukit Saban Access” Facebook page yesterday.

The food kit distribution is one of the efforts initiated by Uggah to not only distribute the Bantuan Khas Sarawakku Sayang (BKSS 6.0) food aid to the residents within hisĀ  constituency, but also to extend similar aid to those residing outside the area.

The aid included rice, chicken eggs, canned chicken curry, instant noodles, canned sardines, bread, face masks and hand sanitisers.

According to a source close to Uggah, these targeted Bukit Saban constituents are those from the B40 group who reside in Kuching and Samarahan areas.

“We have the database or profile of those staying in Kuching. Last year, we have assisted close to about 500 families on top of the people staying in Bukit Saban.

“These people are not under the radar of the YBs in charge of the place they are residing. Therefore, instead of using the food aid fund of other constituencies and even the fund allocated to Bukit Saban, Datuk Amar would use his own money to help these targeted recipients,” he told DayakDaily when contacted today. ā€” DayakDaily
