Uggah appointed fifth Pro-Chancellor of Unimas

KUCHING, June 27: Deputy Premier of Sarawak Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas has been appointed Universiti Malaysia Sarawak’s (Unimas) fifth Pro-Chancellor today.

His appointment is effective from Jan 24, 2022 until Jan 25, 2025.

The proclamation was made by the Premier of Sarawak and Unimas Pro-Chancellor Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg at Unimas’ Commemorative Convocation Ceremony held at Detar Putra Hall.

Uggah is replacing Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Alfred Jabu Numpang, who had served as Unimas Pro-Chancellor from Oct 8, 2013 to Oct 7, 2021.

As the Pro-Chancellor, Uggah hopes to see Unimas continue to make strides toward academic research and publishing excellence in line with Unimas’ vision and mission to be a leading global university for a sustainable future, as well as to increase the social and economic impact on the global community, through efforts to achieve excellence in teaching, research and strategic engagement.
