KUCHING, May 31: Deputy Sarawak Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and Dayak leaders from Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) will be holding a Gawai Dayak open house at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) on June 1, from 10am to 3pm.
Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and other prominent guests are among those expected to visit.
Uggah took the opportunity to remind all travelling back to their hometowns to celebrate Gawai Dayak and returning after to exercise the greatest care when driving or using longboats or speedboats to reach their destinations.
“Please do not resort to reckless speeding so that you can reach or return safely. Do not drive too if one has consumed too much alcohol,” said Uggah in a statement yesterday.
He also called on those cooking in kitchens to be cautious and not to get distracted and leave cooking fires unattended.
“We do not want any untoward occurrence happening to spoil your Gawai joy.
“With these words, my family and I would like to wish all a very happy Gawai celebration. Bulih Limpah, Bulih Tuah, Bulih Pengerai Nguan Menoa,” said Uggah. — DayakDaily
