KUCHING, March 26: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) president Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg should continue leading the party for years to come, says Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.

Uggah, who is also Bukit Saban PBB branch chairman, said he had known and worked closely with Abang Johari since 1978 and has proven himself to be a capable, smart, and visionary leader.

According to Uggah, one of Abang Johari’s most notable achievements is seeking extra revenue for the State through the imposition of sales tax on petroleum products.

“His inclusive policy on many issues clearly illustrates he is a leader for all races.

“In politics too, he has shown his mettle where he has been able to unite the people to get them to support the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) coalition, which won 76 of the 82 seats contested in the 12th Sarawak Election last year,” he said.

Uggah said this as his main resolution speech during the Bukit Saban PBB branch triennial delegates meeting held in Spaoh today.

Uggah noted that Abang Johari also rose to the occasion when he announced numerous aid packages to help the people tide through the Covid-19 pandemic.

Now, he said, Sarawak has the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy 2030, which aims at propelling the State to greater heights in development, progress, and prosperity.

“Sarawak was poised to have an increasingly brighter future under him, and PBB Bukit Saban branch would continue to stand by Abang Johari’s leadership,” he added.

Also present were Betong MP Datuk Robert Lawson Chuat, Layar assemblyman Datuk Gerald Rentap Jabu, and Saribas assemblyman Mohd Razi Sitam. ― DayakDaily
