KUCHING, Jan 19: The Head of State (TYT) Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar received a courtesy visit from the High Commissioner of the Republic of Singapore to Malaysia, Vanu Gopala Menon, at the official residence in Petra Jaya today.
During the meeting, they discussed on a range of strategic matters involving regional cooperation, particularly in the areas of the Green Economy and renewable energy initiatives that are being actively developed in Sarawak.
Another significant topic raised was the proposed establishment of a Singapore Consulate Office in Kuching. The move is seen as a step towards easing trade and investment facilitation, while also strengthening people-to-people ties between Sarawak and Singapore.
Efforts to further stimulate the tourism sector from Singapore were also discussed, given Sarawak’s wealth of natural heritage and its unique tourism products, which hold strong potential to attract international visitors.
Wan Junaidi expressed hope that strategic cooperation between Sarawak and Singapore will continue to be strengthened to drive sustainable economic growth and ensure long-term prosperity for both regions.
Also present during the meeting were TYT’s wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, Counsellor (Political) Charlene Chan, Secretary (Political) Valerie Lim, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs Malaysia Sarawak Regional Office director Dato Fenny Nuli. – DayakDaily
