TYT, Premier attend dinner to welcome Sultan of Pahang to Sarawak

KUCHING, Aug 21: Sarawak Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg attended a dinner held in conjunction with the arrival of the Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, in Sarawak, at a hotel here on Thursday (Aug 20).

According to the Premier’s Facebook page, the arrival of Al-Sultan Abdullah and Wan Junaidi was received by Abang Johari and other dignitaries attending the event.

The dinner followed royal customs and provided an occasion to welcome the Sultan of Pahang while strengthening friendship ties between Pahang and Sarawak.

The event featured a welcoming dance performance showcasing the cultural diversity and heritage of Sarawak’s communities, as well as a special video presentation titled ‘Pahang dan Sarawak: Sulaman Kasih Dua Persada’, highlighting the close ties and friendship between the two states.

The dinner featured performances by guest artistes, interspersed with cultural performances representing the Iban, Melanau, Bidayuh, Orang Ulu, and Chinese communities, reflecting Sarawak’s ethnic diversity.

The event concluded with finale performances of ‘Joget Jinak Merpati’ and ‘Berkikis Bulu Betis’, symbolising warmth, unity, and the spirit of togetherness between the two states.

Today, the Sultan of Pahang is scheduled to visit Kampung Telok Melano in Sematan to officiate the opening of the Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah Mosque and inspect the area around KM 0.00 of the Pan Borneo Highway.

Also present were Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUS) Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar; Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki; Pahang State Executive Councillor for Islamic Religious Affairs, Rural Development, and Orang Asli Affairs Dato’ Sri Syed Ibrahim Syed Ahmad; as well as ministers and deputy ministers, dignitaries, members of the Sultan of Pahang’s entourage, heads of departments, and community leaders. — DayakDaily
