TYT arrives in Brunei for Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah’s 80th birthday celebrations

KUCHING, July 14: Sarawak Governor (TYT) Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar arrived in Brunei Darussalam today to attend the official celebrations marking Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah’s 80th birthday at the invitation of the Brunei government.

According to a Facebook post by Tun Wan Junaidi, he was accompanied by Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, while Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and his wife, Dato Dayang Morliah Awang Daud, were also part of the delegation.

The delegation departed from the Hornbill Skyways Terminal in Kuching and arrived in Bandar Seri Begawan at 12.10pm, where they were received by Brunei Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Halbi Mohd Yussof and his wife, Datin Paduka Kalthum Apong.

Also present to welcome the Sarawak delegation were Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Major General Dato Paduka Seri Muhammad Haszaimi Bol Hassan, Commissioner of the Royal Brunei Police Force Dato Seri Pahlawan Sulaiman Aliddin, Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister’s Office Awang Ajman Meludin, and their respective spouses.

Upon arrival, Tun Wan Junaidi was accorded the honour of inspecting the Royal Brunei Guard of Honour before proceeding to the official accommodation.

The visit is part of a series of official engagements and ceremonies held in conjunction with the 80th birthday celebrations of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.

The Facebook post said the official visit reflects the longstanding friendship and close cooperation between Sarawak and Brunei Darussalam, while providing an opportunity to further strengthen bilateral ties for the mutual benefit of both parties.

Tun Wan Junaidi and Toh Puan Fauziah also expressed hope that the visit would proceed smoothly and continue to reinforce the close relationship between Sarawak and Brunei Darussalam. — DayakDaily
