KUCHING, July 2: Swim Art Aquatic Club (SAC) marked a proud milestone at the recent MAS/NSC/MILO Splash Swim Series held at the Pandelela Rinong Aquatic Centre from June 14 to 15, with standout swimmers Roman Aryan Raphael and Ethan Tin Yu Khai smashing meet records in their respective events.
According to a media release today, SAC secured second place overall in the East Malaysia region, concluding the meet with a haul of 15 gold, 17 silver, and 14 bronze medals.
To recognise the team’s outstanding effort, SAC hosted a quiet prize presentation at its premises, celebrating the athletes’ commitment and perseverance in training.
The event spotlighted two rising stars — Roman and Tin — whose stellar performances earned them meet records.
Roman, who competed in the Boys 12–13 category, shattered records in the 200m Backstroke, 50m Butterfly, and 200m Butterfly, while Tin, representing the Boys 10–11 category, broke the 50m Butterfly meet record.

SAC head coach Gary Lau emphasised that every swimmer gave their all, and the results were a testament to their dedication throughout training.
“I’m incredibly proud of how the team performed. Their hard work, discipline, and team spirit really paid off.
“This is a young team, but they’ve already shown maturity and hunger for improvement,” he said.
Organised by Malaysia Aquatics (MAS), the Splash Swim Series was held concurrently across three zones — the Northern region (Perlis, Kedah, Penang, Perak, Terengganu, Kelantan, Pahang), Central Region (Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Johor), and East Malaysia region (Sabah, Sarawak, Labuan).
SAC stated that the decentralised format was introduced to enhance accessibility to competition and nurture young swimming talent nationwide.
Looking ahead, SAC is gearing up for Leg 2 of the SportExcel Circuit, set to take place at the Kota Kinabalu Sports Complex Aquatic Centre from Aug 1 to 3.
“We’re not rushing or getting ahead of ourselves. We will approach the second leg with the same humility, discipline, and focus,” Lau added. — DayakDaily
