Two new clusters identified in Tawau and Hulu Langat

KUCHING, Oct 4: Two new clusters in Sabah and Selangor respectively were identified today.

The Ministry of Health (MoH) revealed seven positive cases were reported from the Kau Sing Cluster, Tawau, Sabah and five cases were from the Embun Cluster, Selangor.

The first case in the Kau Sing Cluster is a 29-year-old Malaysian male who was confirmed positive for Covid-19 through symptomatic individual screening on Sept 25 before he was admitted into Tawau Hospital.

Following this, six more positive cases out of 27 individuals screen were discovered through close contact screening.

As for the Embun Cluster in Hulu Langat, Selangor, the index case is a 41-year-old Malaysian male who tested positive for the coronavirus through a screening on Sept 29.

The remainder of the cluster’s four cases were also detected through close contact tracing and tests involving 52 individuals, according to MoH in its official statement today.

Meanwhile, the ministry disclosed it has taken note of the announcement by Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob earlier today regarding the implementation of Targeted Tightened Movement Control Order (PKPDB) administratively in the Alor Setar Prison.

Ismail Sabri asserted that the PKPDB would be effective starting Oct 5, 2020 following a spike in Covid-19 cases at the prison.

With that, MoH revealed it would continue to carry out preventive measures in Alor Setar, working with various agencies to control the spread of Covid-19. — DayakDaily
