MIRI, March 25: Two children in Miri urgently need RM250,000 to undergo life-changing cochlear implant surgeries, as public support remains crucial to help them hear and experience a better quality of life.

In a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) news on Tuesday (March 24), Deputy Minister of Tourism and Piasau assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting said Flora Lee Kai Shuan and Andy Harrison each require about RM125,000 for the treatment.

He noted that fundraising efforts are currently ongoing, but only around RM50,000 has been raised so far, leaving a shortfall of approximately RM200,000 to meet the total cost of the surgeries.

As such, he urged the Miri community to step forward and extend their assistance as a show of solidarity and compassion, while helping to ease the financial burden faced by the families of both children.

He emphasised that continued public support is not only vital in financial terms, but also serves as a source of hope for the children to look forward to a brighter and more fulfilling future.

Donations can be channelled to Sehati Service and Information Centre’s Alliance Bank account 1102 7001 0015 028. — DayakDaily
