KUCHING, Nov 23: Two men were fined RM5,000 each for possessing a total of 22.6kg pangolin scales.
According to Sarawak Forestry Corporation’s social media page, Sessions Court Judge Marutin Pagan meted the sentence after the accused pleaded guilty to the charge.
They were charged under Section 29(2) which was read together with section 37(2) of the Wild Life Protection Ordinance, 1998 for possessing pangolin scales in Jalan Bakun-Bintulu Asap, Belaga, on Nov 11, 2022, without any valid license or permission from the Controller.
