KUCHING, Jan 16: Two men were killed after they were trapped beneath a 10-tonne lorry while repairing its brakes at a quarry road area in Bukit Mambong, Jalan Mambong, Siburan, this afternoon.
The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said it received an emergency call at about 2.02pm and dispatched a team from the Siburan Fire and Rescue Station to the scene, located about nine kilometres away. Fire engines arrived at 2.28pm.
Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene. They were identified as 46-year-old Laga Tegong and 26-year-old Sady Joe Liam.
According to Bomba, the incident occurred when the two men became trapped under the lorry while carrying out brake repairs at the quarry road area.
Rescue operations involved lifting the side of the lorry using two excavators belonging to the quarry company. The first victim was successfully extricated at about 4.55pm, followed by the second at 5.04pm.
Upon completion of the operation, both bodies were handed over to the police for further action. The operation ended at 5.10pm. – DayakDaily
