Two individuals nabbed for alleged burglary in Bintawa

KUCHING, Jan 9: A joint cooperation between the Community Policing team in Bintawa and the Bintawa police station led to the arrest of two individuals for an alleged burglary, yesterday.

According to the Sarawak Community Police Association secretary David Xavier Hii Chin Loung, on Jan 8, 2021, the residents in Bintawa shared information about the two individuals who were behaving suspiciously at a gated premises in the area, together with the picture of their motorcycle.

“On the same day at about 9.30pm, Bintawa police station deputy chief Sergeant Siti Mariam, together with four members of the Bintawa Community Policing team conducted a crime prevention patrol in the area and encountered the two suspects, with their motorcycle which fit the information description that was shared earlier.


“The two suspects were then apprehended as they were suspected to have been trespassing into a gated premises at Taman Riverview in Bintawa,” he said in a press statement today.

Hii noted, based on the information shared by the members of the public, the two suspects were trying to get the steel from the gated premises.

He said the owner of the premises had also lodged a police report today (Jan 9), at 11.31am, after he found signs of breaking and entering, together with the losses at his premises.

At the same time, Hii also conveyed his gratitude to the Bintawa police station for their prompt response and assistance.

“We also would like to thank the community residents of Bintawa too for being vigilant and alert. These cases clearly show the effectiveness of this collaboration, with the suspects being apprehended in the end,” he added. — DayakDaily
