KUCHING, May 9: Two owners of a karaoke pub were each sentenced to a fine of RM3,000 for operating a public entertainment outlet without licence under the Entertainment Ordinance 2000.
Tay Kim Po, 28, and Eilvanez Chuyun Billy, 20, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Nuruhuda Mohd Yusof and were sentenced to a fine of RM3,000 in default to five months imprisonment each.
They were found operate a karaoke pub and lounge at Jalan Canaan without a licence granted under Entertainment Ordinance 2000 at about 3.20am, on February 24.
They were charged under Section 5(1)(b) of the Entertainment Ordinance 2000 and punishable under Section 5(3) of the same Act.
Prosecuting Officer Merylene Lindan Andrew Mang prosecuted while both accused unrepresented. — DayakDaily
